Show and Tell Friday~ ECS Summer Rose Swap

Show and Tell Friday~ Thank you to My Romantic Home for hosting!

For my Show and Tell, I would like to share what I recieved for my Summer Rose Swap,

My swap partner was Virginia from Virginia's Vignettes

Whe the package arrived it felt like my birthday!  The package was beautifully packaged!  I wish I had thought to take a picture!  When I opened the box, the first thing i noticed was the wonderful delicate scent of roses......
When I dug further I found this.....
A BEAUTIFULLY decorated box, with porcelain doll head in a rose.....
There was also a carefully decorated and hand written note from her explaining the origin of the doll head.......
She said that the porcelain doll head is from Germany, and probably made circa 1800's. There is a man in Germany that digs these doll pieces out of the ground where the factories used to be!
Here is a link that Virginia shared on her blog with pictures of the man digging the doll heads out.....

Also inside the box I discovered the lovely smell of roses was from handmade rose scented soap, and a pretty little book she made me.........

This is one of my favorite images, you will most likely find this recreated on some porcelain soon!

What a wonderful gift, I love the history behind the doll head, what a wonderful conversation piece in the home of a china painter!  I will cherish it!

Wednesday~ Tea for Me and Thee and White Wednesday 7/14/2010

Today is White Wednesday and Tea for me and Thee Wednesday!

Please pay our hostesses a visit!

Wednesday Tea For Me And Thee

White Wednesday

This is my first White Wednesday!  I'm so excited!
White porcelain is one of my favorite things~
When I look at white porcelain I see what it could look like painted with beautiful decorations and flowers.....
Sounds silly but I ask it,
What would you like to wear?
Pink Roses?
Pansies?
Or... go totally WILD and put a little bit of everything on?
What color you you want to wear with your flowers? Or maybe we don't even choose flowers, we choose fruit or something else......
Pink? Aqua? Brown? Green?
How much gold do you want?
A lot of
BLING or under stated elegance?
Sometimes I know exactly how a piece should look and sometimes I change my mind several times through the process.
But ALL pieces start out WHITE
Definition of white?
White is the presence of ALL colors, so you can't make a wrong pick!

Here is what "Christmas in July" looks like to a china painter.......

I just got a shipment of white porcelain "blanks" and more is on the way!

Look!  Even my bunny is excited!  LOL!  Yes, I have a house bunny. She is box trained and hangs out with the cat around the house.
To be honest, she is more exctied about playing in the cardboard boxes and packing materials than about Mommy getting porcelain to paint on.
I thought she was so cute streaking through my picture.  Shes a real attention hog!

So here is a twist on "Tea for Me and Thee".....
I thought you might like to see a tea/coffee set get all dressed up for the tea party!

.

There are several steps and a few times in the kiln before the set is ready for tea time!

They say pictures are worth a thousand words......

I just pulled out an old copy of Victoria Magazine...... On the cover, Pink ROSES!  (March 2001)
Can you believe I kepy that  copy this long?  There is so much in that issue that inspires me, but I always stop at those roses!

Thank you  for coming to see me and letting me share!
